    REV. BILL WOZNEY

    1950 - 2026

The life of Reverend William “Bill” J. Wozney, was marked by a deep passion for Christ and a lifelong commitment to making him known. Bill passed away on May 17th, leaving behind a great legacy of love that continues to challenge and encourage us to carry forward the work he faithfully invested in, so that many more may come to know the love of God. Bill was a man of great character, someone that was quick to care, loved to laugh and make others laugh, and deeply sought unity among the people he interacted with.

Bill Wozney was born in eastern Saskatchewan in 1950. He earned a Diploma of Theology from Central Pentecostal Bible College in 1971 and later completed a Bachelor of Theology degree at Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in 1996. He married Cindy, and together they built a loving family with their three children: Rachel, Amy, and Paul.

Bill devoted his adult life to faithfully serving God and leading with vision and compassion in the Halifax metropolitan area, across Atlantic Canada, and internationally. His passion for ministry began early, leading him into roles as a youth pastor and camp director. In the 1970s, Bill and Cindy became actively involved at Faith Tabernacle Church (now Faith City Church), where he led children’s and youth ministry. Bill had a pioneering spirit that developed in his early years of ministry, which was especially apparent through an innovative bus ministry, and carried forward in all his church work.

For more than three decades, Bill and Cindy faithfully led and served through the founding and pastoral ministry of Alive Christian Church, including its eventual merger with New Life Christian Centre in Halifax’s North End to form what is now Mosaic Church.

Their ministry extended far beyond the church walls. Through Agape Ministries and “Camp Agape” in Lower Vaughan, Nova Scotia, they helped generations of children and youth encounter Christ within a caring community. Bill also served on the PAOC Maritime District Executive Committee and co-founded the interdenominational Love Metro movement, which later became the Greater Halifax Service Leadership Team, which united and encouraged Christian leaders throughout the city.

Bill’s voice became familiar to many as the longtime host of the radio program “Alive” which aired weekly on CHFX-FM in Greater Halifax for more than twenty years. The program later expanded internationally through Radio Malta, reaching listeners throughout much of English-speaking Europe.

Bill adopted a popular saying that reflected his heart for people: “Where there is room in the heart, there will always be room in the house.” Together, Bill and Cindy lived out that conviction through extraordinary hospitality. Their home in Halifax became a place of belonging for hundreds of university students studying far from their families. Though parents of three children and grandparents of six grandchildren, their table was always open to students, visitors, coworkers, friends, and strangers who soon became family, especially during holidays when returning home was not possible.

Even after retirement, Bill and Cindy continued serving faithfully through interim pastoring at Calvary Crossroads Church and later at Glad Tidings Worship Centre. They also invested in leadership development internationally, supporting churches and pastoral training initiatives in Ethiopia, Malawi, and Ukraine alongside local leaders.

Since 2021, Bill served as Seniors Pastor at Faith City Church where he served the seniors through lunches, worship and pastoral care. But that was not all, he was a spiritual presence and light for the whole congregation, and he ministered to all ages.

Through more than 50 years of faithful ministry, Bill and Cindy impacted countless lives by making disciples, inspiring faith, and demonstrating through their own example that there are no barriers to the love of Christ. Bill’s legacy will continue in the generations they encouraged, equipped, and called to build for the future.
